#59: Why Start-up- To be or not to be? Founder Hacks with Sidhartha Sharma
“To be or not to be” Hamlet
Product-market-founders are the three elements that have to come together in the right way
“The education system teaches us subjects like ‘Wealth-management and ‘Financial accounting’, but it never taught us anything about making money or the entrepreneur’s mindset.
I have a question- Would you teach someone how to manage babies,
without teaching them how to make babies? Accidental parents and entrepreneurs exist, but it can turn out to be a difficult journey. Access to the highest quality, knowledge, network, and then taking action to make a business win are the best strategies entrepreneur can use.
There is nothing wrong with being a baby-sitter. All babies need a baby-sitter or a guardian or a Godfather.
I always recommend at least 2–3 years of serious entrepreneurship/start-up experience for an all-rounded development of an individual. What is the name of the company/organization you are presently working in or plan to work for in the future- whose baby is it? Explore how it started and you will develop respect for the founder.
Get clarity on what role you enjoy more: A parent, or a babysitter. I am not sure if a 3rd choice exists for anyone who lives in a capitalist society or economic plane. Both roles are important for the baby, you should know what matters more to you- your own baby or another person’s baby?
The risks and the rewards vary based on the role you choose to play. One is not better than the other. It all depends on your personal values and risk apetite.
Through this series I will be writing down 101 (minimum and more if needed) essential Principles for Founders and start-up aspirants to know. I will try my best not to be repetiative.
